Tortoise Teaches Rabbit to Read is a playful fable that introduces pre-readers to how reading works. Students explore reading patterns through social interactions, observation, inquiry, and discovery. This is the first and only STEM and SEL introduction to reading. Resources include the Story Video, eBook, and Coloring Book.

The Instructional Use Guide provides classroom management, activity extensions, exploration topics, and other activities for each adventure-filled episode.

The Tortoise Teaches Rabbit to Read Instructional Process involves:
1. The fables model and guide children to observe and think about phonemes and sounding out words.
2. Lively discussions and activities lead children to explore reading readiness skills by finding personally meaningful connections by comparing their names with their classmates’ names.
3. Application of math (counting and set theory) to discover the underlying patterns within their names and other favorite words
4. STEM, SEL (Social Emotional Learning), and Co-operative Learning activities stimulate curiosity, observation, learning from others, and questioning.
Tortoise Teaches Rabbit to Read is an inquiry approach to help pre-readers develop reading readiness skills. Included in your instructional bundle are four resources:
