From memorization to inspiration

From memorization to inspiration

At our small software company we’re creating children’s fables, poems and stories, that help “teach” early literacy and SEL. These stories are designed with one question in mind: How can stories inspire children to become curious, thoughtful, and self-motivated learners who feel they belong?

While editing the introduction to the website, hearbrightlearning.org, I noticed something striking. Without thinking, I began replacing the word “teach” with “inspire.” The shift changed everything! My energy lifted, focus sharpened! I wasn’t writing about transmitting knowledge—I was writing about immersion into discovering knowledge that sparked imagination and enthusiasm!

This made me wonder: what would education look like if our central mission was NOT to teach, but, instead, was to inspire?
